When considering elective cosmetic surgery, perhaps
the most important decision that one can make lies in
selecting one's surgeon. This can be quite difficult, as
one is often faced with many choices and very little
factual information. Additionally, individuals may be
uncomfortable discussing these choices with friends,
family, and even one's family physician. Examining
your plastic surgeon's background and reputation is a
critical, but sometimes challenging, step.

Dr. Howard Silverman, FRCSC

Dr. Silverman would like to take this opportunity to introduce himself and highlight his
training, educational background and practice philosophy, and to supply some
information about cosmetic surgery to assist in this selection.

Dr. Silverman is a fully board-certified Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive surgeon,
holding his Canadian and American fellowships in Plastic Surgery, as well as being a
board-certified General surgeon. His training includes:

  • Doctor of Medicine; University of Toronto
  • Internship in Surgery; The Toronto Hospital
  • Residency and Chief Residency in Surgery; Yale University, Connecticut
  • Residency and Chief Residency in Plastic Surgery; Albany Medical College,
    New York

Dr. Silverman is expert and fully trained in the newest and most current techniques in
cosmetic surgery, and has a practice that combines a large volume of both cosmetic
and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Silverman holds hospital privileges at the
Queensway-Carleton Hospital and Almonte General Hospital. He regularly performs
surgical procedures at each of these institutions, as well as in his private office. Of
course, all surgical procedures are performed personally by Dr. Silverman.

Dr. Silverman's practice philosophy holds patient-focused care at its highest level. This
means that, beginning with the one's first contact, the patient will enjoy timely,
sensitive and completely confidential attention throughout their experience with his
office. During the initial complementary consultation, Dr. Silverman will personally
address one's concerns, supply factual and current information, and offer solutions and
alternatives tailored individually to these concerns in an unhurried and compassionate
way. In this manner, the patient will achieve a realistic and honest impression of the
advantages, expected outcomes, and risks involved with cosmetic surgery such that an
informed choice can be made with confidence.
