A thigh, buttock or arm lift in Ottawa can tone and rejuvenate the lower body or upper arms. These procedures can help areas of the body with lax or sagging skin and excess fat. Dr. Howard Silverman often performs liposuction to improve the appearance of these areas, skillfully minimizing incisions and reducing downtime. He also uses skin excision to remove sagging or excess skin. Dr. Silverman will assess your suitability and help to determine which procedure is most appropriate during your initial consultation.

Thigh, Buttock & Arm Lift Procedures

Women and men with excess or loose skin can benefit from a lifting procedure. Dr. Silverman offers his patients the following procedures:

  • Thigh Lift: To perform a thigh lift, Dr. Silverman focuses on removing the excess skin on your hips and inner and/or outer thighs. He tightens your skin to achieve a toned appearance.
  • Buttock Lift: A buttock lift can help lift the posterior to a more youthful position. During this procedure, Dr. Silverman tightens and reshapes the buttocks to give you a rejuvenated shape. Incision locations include the lower back, crease of the groin, crease of the buttocks, and the inner thigh to the knee.
  • Arm Lift: An arm lift, also called brachioplasty, removes fatty deposits and excess fat from the upper arm, resulting in smooth and tight contours for a toned look. The incision for an arm lift runs from the underarm to above the elbow.

Dr. Silverman usually uses liposuction to improve the contours of the thigh, buttock and arm areas, resulting in minimal scarring However, if a significant amount of excess skin is present, liposuction alone is not sufficient, as increased skin laxity may occur. This situation typically occurs if a patient has experienced significant weight loss or fluctuations, stretch marks, or extremely loose, lax skin.

When excess skin needs to be removed, increased scarring will be seen when compared to liposuction. When the skin is not sufficiently elastic, a scar will result from the surgery. However, Dr. Silverman is skilled at performing the procedure so that the scar is concealed in the natural skin folds or less conspicuous areas.

Dr. Silverman performs thigh, buttock or arm lift procedures under general or spinal anesthesia. Depending on which procedure you choose, recovery from a thigh, buttock or arm lift procedure will require one to two weeks. Compression garments need to be worn to help ease swelling and provide support while the tissue heals. Patients usually can resume their normal activities in 4 to 6 weeks.
