Mastopexy, or a breast lift, in Ottawa can help women elevate and tighten their breasts to restore a more youthful and aesthetic contour. This procedure is most appropriate for women who are satisfied with the actual size of their breasts, but are displeased with the position or shape. This condition, called breast ptosis, can occur because of weight fluctuation, pregnancy, natural aging, and inherited factors. If a woman has lost a considerable amount of volume in her breasts, she may consider combining breast implants in Ottawa with a breast lift procedure.

Breast Lift Procedure

In Ottawa, breast lift surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the breast. The nipple and areola are then moved to a higher position, and skin that was located above the nipple pre-operatively is moved down and together to give a new shape to the breast. This reconfiguration of the breast shape usually does involve some scarring on the breast. However, Dr. Silverman will discuss the various options and approaches with you during your consultation, based on your individual build and wishes.

To perform your breast lift, there are different incision options available, depending on the amount of lift needed. In most cases, the level of correction necessary will be more substantial if the patient has experienced significant weight loss in Ottawa. Some of the more common incisions include:

  • Lollipop incision: This involves creating an incision around the nipple that descends vertically down the breast.

  • Anchor incision: This method is typically used when more intensive lifting is required. The incision is created by circling the nipple, descending vertically down the breast, and horizontally lining the crease of the breast.

  • Areolar incision: This technique involves an incision which encircles the nipple and areola alone, and elevates the nipple, avoiding scars outside of this area. It is most useful when only a small amount of lifting is needed, or when combined with breast augmentation.

Dr. Silverman will decide which technique will provide optimal results. Typically, women who have a breast lift performed by Dr. Silverman enjoy their enhanced breast shape and contour for many years afterward.
