Breast lift:

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure, which elevates and tightens the breast to restore a more youthful and aesthetic contour. This procedure is most appropriate for women who are satisfied with the actual size of their breasts, but are displeased with the position or shape of the breast. This condition, called breast ptosis, can occur secondary to weight fluctuation, pregnancy, natural aging, and inherited factors. If the patient has lost a considerable amount
of volume in the breasts, one may consider having breast implants inserted at the time of the breast lift procedure. (see Breast augmentation) Mastopexy involves removal of excess skin and fat from the breast. The nipple and areola are then moved to a higher position, and skin that was located above the nipple pre-operatively is moved down and together to give a new shape to the breast. This reconfiguration of the breast shape usually does involve some scarring
on the breast, though, and Dr. Silverman will discuss the various options and approaches with you during your consultation, based on your individual build and wishes.

Typically, women undergoing this procedure will enjoy enhanced breast shape and contour for many years afterwards. Complications are infrequent, but will be discussed with you during your consultation.
