COVID-19 Updates

Silverman_BlogImage_New

Hello to all of you out there!

How is everyone coping with the COVID-19 crisis and social distancing/quarantine? I hope that all of you are well. During this time, we at Ottawa Plastic Surgery are trying to adjust as well, and I wanted to provide an update for all of you as to where we are at present.

The office is functioning with a skeleton staff right now (Vanessa!) to answer any questions/concerns that our current patients might have, and I am seeing a very restricted number of patients at the office who are still recovering from recent surgeries performed before the virus struck, and only as needed. During these office visits, we have separated patient visits so that only one patient is anticipated at the office at a time. We are wearing masks and practicing our usual habits of hand cleansing between each patient. This is not new for us! Each examination room is cleansed after each patient visit, and we are rotating patients through examination rooms to allow for time between each use. Again, only patients requiring acute in-person visits are being seen at present.

Existing patients who have other questions or concerns can continue to contact us either by office phone, email, or the urgent after-hours cell number that you have been provided with, should the need arise.

All scheduled elective in-person consultations, minor office procedures and major surgical procedures performed in hospital are currently on hold, and will be rescheduled in the future once we are able to do so. Of course, we have no idea when that might be, but hope that it will be soon!

Dr. Boyd and myself will offer virtual consultations for any of you that would like to discuss surgical procedures. We hope that this will be a great way for us to stay safely in touch during this challenging time. Vanessa will continue to be available to answer your questions online and by office phone as well. We are happy to take requests for in-clinic surgical and aesthetic consultation and bookings, but unfortunately cannot promise dates at present.

If you’re interested in a virtual consultation, consider these steps:

  1. Ensure you have access to a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone.
  2. You can run this test to check your video and audio quality: https://tokbox.com/developer/tools/precall/results
  3. Your surgeon will need to either view photos of your desired treatment area, or examine the area during your virtual consultation. We use a secure, encrypted telemedicine platform called Doxy.me for video calls, and none of your audio or video is recorded or stored.
  4. Call us at (613) 792-4137 or email us at [email protected] – we’ll ask a few pre-consultation questions and schedule a time that works best for you.

Christena is available to answer any questions about your injectable (BOTOX / Dermal Filler) treatments and needs, and our Medical Aesthetician is available to chat about all things skin – laser treatments, peels, at-home skincare, and more. Give us a call at (613) 792-4137 and we’ll point you in the right direction.

We are continuing to fulfill orders skincare orders via our online store. We’re also offering free shipping to your door, should you be running low on supplies or wish to try something new while you are enjoying extra time at home!

That’s it! Hopefully you are all safe and sound, and respecting social distancing as health officials are directing us. We will get through this, and look forward to seeing all of you when restrictions have been lifted. In the meantime, keep an eye on our site, as we will be posting blogs about aesthetic surgery in the coming weeks. I have some unanticipated time on my hands!…
