Getting to know Dr.Frank

  • What made you decide to become a plastic surgeon?

I always knew that I wanted to be a surgeon. After exploring various surgical specialties in medical school, plastic surgery stood out as a perfect fit for my passion and skills. It is an amazing specialty in the immediate, visible improvements a plastic surgeon can have on a patient’s life. Plastic surgery also requires a tremendous amount of creativity and finesse to achieve great results, which makes it a challenging and exciting specialty to be part of!

  • You’ve trained throughout Canada and the United States, what brought you to Ottawa?

Ottawa was the perfect place for me and my family to settle. After my years of training, I definitely wanted to be part of an academic medical center, where I could pass on my experience to the next generation of plastic surgeons. The University of Ottawa has the nation’s newest plastic surgery training program, with a world-class faculty of surgeons and residents, which makes it a great group to be part of. On a personal level, Ottawa is a perfect city for a young family, with lots to keep everyone busy, both indoors and out.

  • Why did you decide to join Ottawa Plastic Surgery?

Ottawa Plastic Surgery is regarded as the top plastic surgery practice in the region. Drs. Silverman and Boyd have established a reputation for outstanding surgical care and uncompromising dedication to their patients – and they are both great to work with! I would not have considered joining any other practice!

  • What is your ‘favourite’ procedure to perform?

One of the most interesting aspects of plastic surgery is the huge variety of procedures we can perform. That said, abdominoplasties are one of my favourite surgeries. It is so rewarding to see the change from “before” to “after,” and my patients are always so excited with their result. It can make a big difference in someone’s life, whether it’s more confidence, or comfort in clothes, or just being happier with the way their body feels!
