Hey all, 

Welcome to 2025, though a little bit late!  I thought it would be interesting to look back at 2024 for Ottawa Plastic surgery, as it has been a learning experience for us!  

2024 was a great year for all of us at OPS.  It was the first complete calendar year at our new facility and was a real learning curve.  The move from hospital based cosmetic surgery to a free-standing and fully functional independent plastic surgical facility allowed refinement of our patient experience, so that we could control and tailor all aspects of patient care, from the first contact with our clinic to the consultation, surgical preparation, surgical procedures and follow up visits.  This gave our patients freedom of scheduling, convenience, enhanced privacy and of course absolute excellence in all aspects of the aesthetic surgery experience.  The surgery part of it seems fairly evident, but all of the excellent and necessary work done more behind the scenes is sometimes not as visible to our patients. This includes our outstanding administrative staff, professional and comprehensive care coordinators, our compassionate and skilled surgical and recovery room nurses, our hyper-organized and efficient operating room nursing team, our obsessively fastidious equipment preparation staff, and our safety-conscious, kind and brilliant anesthesiologist medical team are all critical to the success of each procedure.  As well, we have unparalleled experience in aesthetic services that are also available.  You can imagine how many varied tasks are required from each of the team to achieve this success, from ensuring a ready source of surgical oxygen tanks, to our patient robes and slippers that are ready and waiting for you, and everything in between!  The year has given all of us at OPS a chance to find our rhythm, and things have gone great.  As a result, OPS is already known in the Ottawa medical community as the premiere source for outpatient cosmetic surgery and is the most sought-out employer for talented outpatient medical staff.  

We provide a full palette of surgical and aesthetic services, including aesthetic breast and body contouring and enhancement, reconstruction of the body and face after substantial weight loss, specific male and female aesthetic (genital) surgeries, facial and eyelid enhancement and rejuvenation, rhinoplasty surgery, and gender affirming surgeries to name a few of our portfolios.  Our surgeons are each at the peak of their skills and are on the leading edge of their craft, providing expertise and depth to our practices.  We are all engaged with plastic surgical education and teaching as well, and all hold faculty university appointments.  Dr. Boyd and Dr. Frank are also involved in national plastic surgical governance and direction, and each hold highly prestigious and sought-after leadership appointments in Canadian and international plastic surgical committees, ensuring that our fingers are on the pulse of current needs and directions in plastic surgery. This also allows us to collaborate with each other, making sure that our patients find their way to the best possible outcomes, and allowing multiple surgeons’ perspectives and approaches as required to optimize results.
