Dr. Melissa Forbes brings over 15 years of invaluable experience to the medical field, demonstrating expertise in family medicine, emergency medicine, and anaesthesia. Her training was completed at the University of Ottawa.  Her extensive background reflects a commitment to a versatile and comprehensive practice. Driven by a passion for patient well-being, she continues to advance her skills in delivering high-quality medical care in the domain of peri operative anesthesia care. Melissa’s wealth of experience positions her as a seasoned professional capable of navigating complex medical scenarios with precision and expertise.

Dr. Forbes maintains privileges at six eastern Ontario hospitals and more than 15 years of comprehensive family, emergency, hospitalist and peri operative anesthesia care in variety of settings. She has maintained her anaesthetic skill set in both emergency and elective surgery settings for a breadth of surgical subspecialties including plastics, obstetrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT, urology and more.

Dr. Evans’ career exemplifies a deep commitment to patient care, medical education, and the continuous advancement of the fields of anesthesiology and pain medicine. His extensive training, particularly in interventional pain management, coupled with his clinical and academic contributions, has positioned him as a leader in his field.

From completing his medical degree at the University of Ottawa to his specialized training at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Michigan, Dr. Evans has cultivated a breadth of expertise that allows him to manage a wide range of complex anesthesiology and pain conditions. His diverse clinical experience, spanning multiple hospitals and healthcare settings in Ottawa, reflects his adaptability and his dedication to providing high-quality care to his patients.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Evans has had a significant impact on medical education. His leadership roles as Director of the Pain Fellowship and Program Director for the Pain Residency Program at The Ottawa Hospital underscore his commitment to shaping the future of anesthesiology and pain medicine. As an Assistant Professor at The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Evans continues to play an essential role in training residents and fostering a culture of excellence in clinical practice.

Over the past decade, Dr. Evans’ work as a medical-legal expert further highlights his expertise in anesthesiology and pain management. His collaboration with the CPSO and the CMPA on medical legal cases has allowed him to contribute his knowledge to many important cases, ensuring that best practices are followed in the medical community.

Dr. Evans’ career is marked by his focus on optimizing peri-operative care, his dedication to educating the next generation of physicians, and his extensive clinical expertise. His impact on the field of anesthesiology and pain medicine, as well as his contributions to patient safety and medical education, make him a highly respected figure in his field.

Kory is our Advanced Medical Aesthetician with over a decade of customer service and eight years of hands-on work in the beauty industry at some of Ottawa’s top medical clinics. She is a positive force with a contagious smile and outgoing personality. Graduated top of her class from Gina’s college here in Ottawa, also earning the class Holistic Award.

Kory has attended many international conferences to increase patients experience and keep up with the latest and greatest in the industry.

Prior to her aesthetics career, Kory was a model and makeup artist for 12 years. Her work can be found in the Richard Robinson runway shows and art galleries across the country. As the years went on, she found her calling when making others feel amazing in their own body. Kory is passionate and patient when it comes to her work, she installs confidence and excitement in her patients as they journey together to achieve the most optimal results.

When she is not making people beautiful in office, Kory enjoys costume/jewelry designing, traveling, fine dinning and wine country.

Vanessa joined our team in 2013 and loves being part of the experience for our plastic surgery patients. She has always had a passion for aesthetics. With her background as a medical aesthetician, she loves all things to do with beauty from the inside-out! At your first consultation, she will walk you through the entire process, answer any questions you might have, and schedule any surgeries with Dr. Silverman and Dr. Boyd. She is your go-to person for any questions or concerns you may have from day 1.

She enjoys helping patients throughout the process of achieving their goals of looking radiant and feeling confident. In her spare time you can find Vanessa at her cottage, staying active at the gym, or at the dog park with her Great Dane, Stella.

Sofya obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing at York University in Toronto. She then completed her peri-operative surgical specialty certification and has over a decade of full-time operating room experience at tertiary care level 1 trauma centres, including the Ottawa Hospital, where she often served as team lead. We at OPS are incredibly fortunate to have Sofya as one of our senior operating room nurses, who brings a level of expertise and experience that ensures maximal patient safety and comfort. The proper functioning of an operating room is completely dependent on its personnel, and Sofya ensures that ours runs to perfection. She is highly organized and takes pride in her role in facilitating the best possible surgical outcomes for patients. In her spare time, Sofya is an avid reader and equestrian enthusiast, caring for her ? two precious horses.

Rebecca MacLeod is a passionate and dedicated Perioperative nurse who provides exceptional care, ensuring patient safety, and optimal comfort in the preoperative and postoperative period. She is skilled in pain assessment, management ,and  medication administration for post-op recovery while maintaining a caring and empathetic nurse patient relationship.

Rebecca has 23 years experience in ICU and PACU. She Has obtained a certification in critical care, perioperative nursing as well as ACLS. She has worked in many healthcare settings following and supporting her husband who serves in the Canadian Forces. 

Outside of nursing, Rebecca has a passion for health and fitness through
Crossfit and has a Precision |Nutrition |Level 1 coaching certification. 

Tadiwos, a certified Medical Device Reprocessing professional, is a key asset as a Sterile Processing Technician at OPS. With a focus on meticulous cleanliness and sterility of tools, he ensures the safety of medical supplies through precise record-keeping and strategic stock rotation. Tadiwos’s innovative and results-driven approach makes him an invaluable team player, consistently prioritizing efficiency and excellence in all aspects of his work at OPS.

With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in healthcare and a master’s degree in nursing, Wei exemplifies an unwavering commitment to excellence. Graduating from Central South University Xiangya Nursing, the top-ranked nursing school in China, Wei’s dedication to academic excellence has been a guiding force throughout a remarkable career.

Upon arriving in Canada, Wei successfully navigated the intricacies of the Canadian healthcare landscape by completing bridging programs at both St. Francis Xavier University and Algonquin College. This adaptability further enriched Wei’s skills, reflecting seamless integration into the Canadian healthcare system. Proudly certified in Perioperative Nursing (Canada), Wei brings a wealth of expertise to Ottawa Plastic Surgery.

Wei’s mastery in perioperative nursing, encompassing both Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), is complemented by 8 years as a nursing educator. Collaborating closely with the surgical team at Ottawa Plastic Surgery, especially with Dr. Silverman over the past decade, Wei has played a pivotal role in ensuring the coordinated care of patients and achieving surgical excellence.

Wei is wholeheartedly committed to delivering exceptional service and care, aligning seamlessly with Ottawa Plastic Surgery’s distinctive, patient-centered approach. This dedication ensures that every patient not only receives the highest standard of care throughout their surgical journey but also encounters an experience marked by unparalleled excellence and consistently positive results at Ottawa Plastic Surgery.

Wei takes great pleasure in collaborating with a team of outstanding, consistent, and dedicated surgical staff. This collaborative effort fosters a cohesive and supportive environment, cultivating a culture of excellence in patient care.

Beyond the healthcare realm, Wei nurtures a profound love for travel, deriving joy from exploring diverse cultures and experiencing the wonders of the world. This passion serves as a source of inspiration and enrichment, contributing to Wei’s well-rounded perspective.

After graduating and obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from McMaster University in 2013, Stephanie has almost exclusively dedicated her nursing career to the perioperative setting with a special interest in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit. Stephanie takes great pride in her work as a nurse and always does her best to ensure patients are comfortable during their recovery period. Seeing patient’s heal and be one step closer to returning home brings her great joy and fulfillment. Stephanie continues to expand her knowledge as a nurse and has current certifications in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. When Stephanie is not working she loves spending time with her husband and two daughters at their camp. She loves growing cut flowers in her garden, spending time on the water on their pontoon boat, having campfires and going for ATV rides.

Before Kate started working as an administrator assistant in health care she was pursuing her passion for music and acting and still is today.

With credits spanning twenty years in Canada, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Kate has appeared on network television, in motion pictures, and in commercial recordings including appearances on “CSI Miami”, 90210, and many more, with showings at many local Nashville hot spots, including the famed “Bluebird Cafe”.

Kate loves chatting with all the patients and making them feel comfortable before their big surgery day as well as working alongside with such a great team here at OPS that feels like family.

Jessica has been working as an Operation Room Nurse since 2018, and before that worked 6 years with ventilator patients. She focuses on maintaining surgical precision and patient safety. Proficient in sterile technique, instrument handling and collaborating with the surgical team. She is detail-oriented and enjoys a good challenge. Jessica focuses on delivering exceptional care during operative procedures. When she is not working she is continuing her education of becoming an RN.
