No. Most injectable treatments are formulated with a local anesthetic called lidocaine that helps minimize discomfort. We also use very small, thin, specialized needles to inject the filler to help patients remain comfortable during the treatments.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Filler procedures consist of a soft injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a sugar-based molecule that is naturally present in the skin but diminishes as we age. Injectable dermal fillers replace HA to boost and plump the skin. This very popular treatment can help by filling lines, severe facial wrinkles, and facial creases by adding volume to the treated area.

Injectable fillers are also used to augment our Ottawa patient lips. If you have thin lips and would like to increase the size, dermal fillers can create a poutier and more attractive look. If you like your lip volume, dermal fillers can smooth the lips and replace lost volume due to age, as well the definition of the lips can be improved. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®️

A thicker consistency than JUVEDERM®️, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® works best for age-related volume loss in the cheeks and around the chin. With just one treatment, patients can look rejuvenated for up to 18 months. Includes lidocaine to ease discomfort during treatment.

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA®

Designed specifically for lip enhancement, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® plumps the lips and minimizes the appearance of perioral rhytids or perioral lines or wrinkles around the mouth.

BELOTERO®️

BELOTERO®️ is best suited to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. What’s the first step?

Our clinical aesthetic nurse specialist, Christena, performs all dermal filler treatments in-house. During your consultation, she will work with you to identify areas you’d like to target, discuss your treatment goals, determine which type of filler will provide the best results, and develop a treatment plan. If you would like to receive treatment on the same day as your consultation, please let us know at the time of booking.

What to Expect on the Day of Dermal Filler Injections

When it’s time for your dermal filler injections, Christena or a member of our aesthetic team will make sure that you are comfortable and relaxed in our reclining chair.

During treatment, the filler is gently injected into the deep layers of your skin with a fine needle. This provides instant volume, smooths away the appearance of wrinkles, and enhances the elasticity and texture of the skin. Treatment takes 30-60 minutes to complete and you will be able to see significant results instantly.

Dermal Filler Recovery

There is almost no downtime required after this procedure and there are no known long-term side effects. You may experience bruising and minor swelling. Results are not permanent but can last up to 9 months. Additional treatments can be repeated when necessary but should be evident as your facial features begin losing volume.
