We know that taking the leap to pursue surgery can be a daunting experience, and we want our patients to feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. To help you learn more about what to expect, we’re sharing some of our wonderful surgical patients’ journeys with you.
Meet Natasha: As a fitness devotee, a mother, and a beautiful person inside and out, Natasha’s decision to pursue a breast augmentation with Dr. Silverman gave her the confidence and physique she was seeking. She was inspired to share her experience with others who may be considering making a change. Read on to learn more!
What made you decide to pursue breast augmentation surgery, and what were your goals?
My decision to pursue surgery started from a very young age—my older sister was vivacious and I admired her physique very much. I knew after turning 18 that breast augmentation was definitely something I saw in my future. I knew the right time had come once I had had my children and felt ready to see changes in my body. After going through my pregnancies and observing the wonderful ways in which a woman’s body can carry another human being, it gave me the strength to take the step of seeking surgery. Overall, I wanted to feel more feminine—my physique was always more straight and lean, and not necessarily sexy in my opinion. At the same time, I really wanted to be able to wear dresses and bras and bikinis without needing to choose an ‘enhancing’ style of top.
What was your experience like at Ottawa Plastic Surgery?
My first consultation with Dr. Silverman went very smoothly. He was extremely professional, to the point, and possessed a level of experience in his profession that made me feel at ease. Leading up to the surgery, I was very unsure about the size of the implants. Going back for a second consultation gave me a lot of assurance and clarity that the suggested implant size was the right one for me. Ottawa Plastic Surgery’s strength is that they make you feel comfortable and possess a high level of professionalism when it comes to patient care. Everyone involved in the process made me feel heard and seen. I adhered to Dr. Silverman‘s post-surgery care instructions, and as a result my recovery was virtually seamless. I organized help from family with my little ones and was very careful not to lift or push in the few weeks after surgery.
We know fitness is important to you—how does it tie into your relationship with your body?
Fitness has always been a passion of mine. Feeling physically strong is something that empowers me in my day-to-day life. Whether it’s playing with my children, working in the yard or on projects, being physically capable is very important to me. I have always done a combination of high intensity workouts and strength training, particularly strengthening the legs and glutes.
My relationship with my body is better now than it ever was. I provide it with nourishing food that gives me energy and challenge it with workouts that keep my muscles guessing and my heart rate elevated. Prior to my surgery, I always felt disproportionate. I now feel my body has better balance and symmetry, and I also feel more feminine and sexy. This newfound positivity has elevated my fitness regime and given me the confidence to pursue some modelling, and this year I was published in Inside Fitness. I had an amazing photographer, Koko King, who took some memorable images.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering a breast augmentation?
Do your research, and meet with multiple surgeons. For me, this really solidified that Dr. Silverman was the right choice. There may never be a perfectly ideal time to undergo a surgical procedure, but with the proper planning to help manage post-care, it’s worth it to achieve a wonderful result!
